The Eight Verses of Thought Transformation

These are the wonderful prostrations. On another post, I will post a guided insight to them, and how I perceive each verse. I really think you need to say these outloud , along with OM MANI PADME HUM. Fully meditated. You may smile mindfully after reading these to yourself. They answer a lot of life’s questions.

1. Determined to obtain the greatest possible benefit from all sentient beings, who are more precious than a wish-fulfilling jewel, I shall hold them most dear at all times.

OM MANI PADME HUM

2. When in company of others, I shall always consider myself as the lowest of all, and from the depths of my heart hold others dear and supreme.

OM MANI PADME HUM

3. Vigilant, the moment a delusion appears in my mind, endangering myself and others, I shall confront and avert it without delay.

OM MANI PADME HUM

4. Whenever I see beings who are wicked in nature and who are overwhelmed by violent negative actions and suffering, I shall hold such rare ones dear, as if I had found a precious treasure.

OM MANI PADME HUM

5. When out of envy others mistreat me with abuse, insults or the like, I shall accept defeat and offer victory to others.

OM MANI PADME HUM

6. When someone whom I have benefited and in whom I have placed great hope in gives me terrible harm I shall regard that person as my holy guru.

OM MANI PADME HUM

7. In short, both directly and indirectly, do I offer every happiness and benefit to all my mothers. I shall secretly take upon myself all their harmful actions and sufferings.

OM MANI PADME HUM

8. Undefiled by the stains of the superstitions of the Eight World concerns may I , my perceiving all phenomena as illusory, be released from the bondage of attachment.

OM MANI PADME HUM

The Eight Verses of Thought Transformation

This is truly a LIFE CHANGING experience. If you are new to buddhism, and seeking some heartfelt meditation, this is great. I did this on a short retreat I did in a local meditation spot. As my book says, they are GREAT (BEYOND GREAT!!!) for mind-training. I feel like it really connected me to Avalokiteshvara. A spiritual transformation, as well as blessing will be brought to you upon completion. I reccomend you do this along with the 108 repition song of OM MANI PADME HUM.

Get connected with Avalo, as I have, and this experience = Grade A. This experience, and through doing its prostrations purifies selfishness and ignorance that prevent one from understanding the meaning of each verse, and helps us understand and know how to use each verse in daily life, and in examples.

First, visualize love and compassion, hanging above you. For me, I visualize the sun, as an energy, THE LOVING energy of Avalokiteshvara during my meditation. After each verse, you need to simply visualize, and welcome one of the thousand hands coming down and touching you, filling your whole body. You may feel a overwhelming sensation in your body. I experienced butterflies and blushing. Overall warmth. The feeling was very happy.

A Beautiful Picture of Chenrezig.

24 December - Reblog The Thousand Armed Chenrezig - to me - WOW. Beautiful and enlightening - most definitely. When Doing a prostration to Avalokiteshvara, I had to visualize of the the thousand arms reaching down to me, and touching me, filling my body with light / energy. The story of Avalokiteshvara’s transformation into Chenrezig reflects heartfelt sincerity. :)
